Beaver Scout Christingle 2016

Date: 13th Dec 2016 Author: Gerald Law
Beavers from Luton’s Icknield District spent a lot of time thinking about the true meaning of Christmas when they took part in their annual Christmas party and Christingle service held at William Austin School, reports Mark Chamberlain.

Five colonies took part in a fun afternoon. They started their celebration with a number of team games organised by their colony leaders. A well-earned break was taken for tea followed by the Christingle service led by the Rev Steven Wood, the vicar of Streatley. The Leaders spent most of their tea break preparing the materials used in the construction of the Christingle which included an orange, a length of red ribbon, 4 cocktail sticks, a number of sweets and a candle which was mounted on the top.

The Rev. Wood was delighted with the response of everyone present which included many Beaver parents who joined for the last half hour to take part in a Christmas sings-a-long.

The event was organised by David Gilkinson in conjunction with the Colony leaders.
