Falkes Scout District Beaver Hike.

Date: 14th Oct 2017 Author: Gerald Law

50+ little participants, four amazing groups with Leaders from Lea, Leagrave, Strathmore, Wigmore Valley Scout Groups and District Commissioner Mark Web met up at 11 o’clock and prepared for a Dunstable downs national trust jewel hike. Ages reigning from as little as 6 prepared there little legs and walked a journey which had enough effort and fun to remember for a lifetime.

Young leaders, scouts for back up, beaver leaders and beaver scouts, set out for a walk and took about 2 and a half hours. During this incredible journey they didn’t just learn about what a hike is or what its about but an amazing group of leaders encouraged these young beaver scouts to map read, starting them up early giving them an advantage not all little children there age receive.
Beaver scouts walked away with ease in their little boots and back packs. 12:35 we made it back and completed the trail, we had our lunch and watch the kites glide through the air and enjoyed our friends company.

About quarter pass one we strode towards, a little woodlands area which had little apparatus. We climbed, run and played as an amazing team, not as separate little groups but as one massive family of beaver scouts. These little beaver scouts really enjoyed there time and was also tired from this extravaganza. And was set for there journeys home bout 2 o’clock, parent smiled and thanked us all for such an amazing job.
Maybe new faces will come next year especially if these beaver scouts told everyone how fun it was.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
