Luton Scouts celebrate St George in style
With flags flying, over 300 Luton Scouts celebrated St George’s Day 2017 in style as they paraded in George Street.

Led by District Commissioner Mark Webb, the Scouts proudly marched half-a-mile to an unforgettable gathering in the town’s aptly-named St George’s Square. The parade included almost every group in Falkes District and over 30 flags to commemorate the Scouts Patron Saint.
In a nostalgic reminder of Scout Leader Adam Goodman who died last year aged 44, Strathmore & St Saviours Scout Group carried his memorial flag at the head of the parade.
Beaver Scout Kyera Moody a Chief Scout Award winner aged seven at her first parade whispered, “It’s awesome. I’ve been waiting for this for ages.”
County Commissioner Bob Calver came to award a special Commendation to 30 Scouts from Leagrave Scout Group who earlier this year organised a celebration for 13-year old Brandon Bird who had never had a birthday party. It was a good turn to beat all good turns.
In the square Mark Webb presented awards to over 40 Scouts and Leaders. He then led the Scouts in a renewal of their promise to do my best, to do a good turn every day and to help other people.
The event ended with camp fire songs sung with gusto while crowds of shoppers joined in the choruses.
