Luton Scouts Founders Day Hike 2018

Date: 18th Feb 2018 Author: Gerald Law
On the 22 February 1857, the founder of the Scout Movement, Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell was born. The Scout Movement celebrates BP’s Birth as Founders’ Day on or near the 22 February.

Luton Scout Districts Falkes and Icknield celebrated with a hike. Around 200 waked around Dunstable Down and the Whipsnade Tree Cathedral.

What a great day at the founders day hike. Perfect weather perfect company what’s not to love. Great to see so many people of all ages and abilities all embracing the great outdoors together.

The best weather I have personal had on a founders day hike which probably helped 195 people out of the house and into adventure. I love seeing the younger ones enjoying the hike but also their family members getting the chance to get stuck into the fun (and some in mud).

Even the more furry companions bounding around in the fresh air was a delight to see. Thanks to the marshals for organising the hike, and to those who delved into their pockets for our fundraising efforts for the World Scout Jamboree.

We collected an amazing £217.09. Thanks for the great day out and hope to see you all plus some new faces next year.

Thanks goes to:
