Date: 7th Apr 2017 Author: Gerald Law
Luton Scouts are now 1400 strong and they would stretch for over a mile if lined up along George Street.

A 4.9% spurt in numbers has pushed the membership to 1411 according to census figures just released. They include a record 33% females attracted by the outdoor activities and challenge the Scouts enjoy.

This year there are 1001 young members led by a 410 adult volunteers a record that goes back to the turn of the century. But more volunteers are needed to cater for would be Scouts who want to join.

There are now over 200 activities in the programme endorsed by dare devil Bear Grylls the movement’s fun-loving Chief Scout. And these are enjoyed by both Scouts and leaders. Just dare to take the plunge.
