PL’s Chief Scout Awards
Chief Scout Awards presented Blenheim Scout Patrol Leaders
Scout Patrol leaders Jack cooper and Devran Duran were presented with the highest scout award, Chief Scouts Gold by Assistant District Commissioner James Hinkins.
As members of the troop they have taken part in a wide variety of adventures and challenging activities including, camping, climbing, caving, hiking, compass, maps and zorbing.
Their skills where enhanced with activities such as narrow boat, cooking meals over an open fire. Pioneering, safe use of axes and saws.
The Skill section involved learning life skills from washing up to the importance of getting enough sleep and repairing a bike to the dangers of smoking.
Their learning included looking at faith and remembrance, helping new Scouts integrate, program and ideas planning using the troop forums. Working hard to co-operate with others, helping to complete tasks or team games.
For good measure, taking part in an amateur radio activity (Jamboree on the air) and met with Australian scout.
They have both gained an armful of activity badges including electronics, mechanic, fire safety and communicator.
As members of Blenheim Group since 2008 progressing through the Beaver and Cub sections before becoming Scouts.
James told them both that he was delighted to be able to present these badges knowing the hard work that goes into them, and wished them well in their Explorer scouting.
