Scouts take over Kenilworth Road
Bedfordshire Scouts held the Beaver and Cub Scouts Football Tournament hosted by newly promoted Luton Town FC.
What can we say apart from we are incredibly proud of the several Beavers and Cubs who took part in the Bedfordshire Football tournament today! You did Luton scouting proud! In fact they did so well that some of the displays that the Beavers and Cubs put on attracted the professional eye…
The event, planned by Bob Calver and LTFC Community Trust, sponsored by Bedfordshire Masons, saw over 500 participants from more than 40 Beaver Colonies and Cub Packs over the course of the day! The beavers kicked off at 9.30am whilst the Cubs got underway at 2pm, with each 6-a-side team playing a minimum of 5 games.
Tanya Allen, Beaver and Cub Leader at St Anne’s Scout Group said, ‘we are proud of their spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship.’ Through the medium of Facebook, Kirsty Doyle congratulated Saxons Scout Group: ‘Well done to the Saxon Beavers, who all played well in the Hatters’ Cup football tournament today.’
My congratulations go out to Ross Park Scout Group who won the Football Darts competitions! This won them some tickets to a Luton Town match next season. May I also congratulate Warden hill Cubs who came third in their tournament!
Peter Harry also took to Facebook to thank all those involved for their efforts and comment on the kids’ determination: ‘the youngsters didn’t disappoint either as loyal to their promise- they all DID THEIR BEST.’
Leagrave Cubs commented that ‘they played very well displaying excellent teamwork… a very good day with lots of new friends made.’
The winners of the Beavers tournament were ‘The Onesters’; Henlow Clifton Scout Group took the trophy home for the Cubs. Well done to you both!
David Wilkinson, chairman at Luton Town FC, even brought out the Football League One trophy that Luton recently won. Some were lucky enough to get pictures with it!
To conclude this fun-packed day I would like to send my thanks to LTFC community trust and Bedfordshire Scouting for putting on this magnificent event!
