The Queen’s Choice
Today’s ‘Luton News’ highlights the extraordinary contribution of Ray Aldous to the town’s Scouting history.
“The 83-year old veteran now features on the Buckingham Palace web site by Royal approval,” writes deputy editor Steve Sims.
The article goes on, “Her Majesty the Queen selected Ray’s image at his MBE ceremony last year to head up the web site’s Investiture page when it was updated in October.”
Steve explained, “As patron of the Scout Association, it was natural for the Queen to choose a smart-looking Scout Leader such as Ray to highlight the valuable work they do in the community.”
Ray is also known for his numerous articles to the local press. As Steve said, “Ray’s output of news stories to the Luton News is legendary. In his heyday hardly a week went by without a Scouting contribution to the news desk.”
