Falkes District Scouts St George’s Day 2026

On Sunday 19th April Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and leaders from across Falkes District (Luton) arrived at Ross Park and embraced the Sunday sun to partake in St George’s Day celebrations… and what a day it was!

Our Squirrels and Beavers spent the morning getting their craft on, measuring, cutting and sticking together card to make the biggest dragons imaginable! Naturally, given the tiring nature of undertaking such a task, a break in the sun was scheduled. Some Squirrels and Beavers chose to sunbathe, but all got stuck in around the fire pit, making the biggest s’mores we’ve ever seen! Let’s just say they definitely enjoyed their s’mores, with most ‘leaving some leftover for later’… as it should be. Re-energised by the sun, s’more and drinks break, our youngest two sections powered on to complete their dragon masks and tails, making sure to pose for a photo when all was said and done!

Whilst our Squirrels and Beavers were putting their craft skills to the test, our Cubs and Scouts were on their own escapades, taking on a series of Taskmaster-esque challenges. Ranging from code-breaking, to practising semaphore and their compass skills, to even competitive s’more making (yes, you read that right!) the Cubs and Scouts partook in ten different challenges, all to see who could take home the most points. The prize? Eternal pride and glory of course!

The day was rounded out by the renewal of each sections promise, and the awarding of several adults awards! Whilst there are too many to list them out individually here, we want to let it be known the heartfelt thanks that we share for all you have done, are doing, and will continue to do for Scouting. Every contribution you have made over the years has been invaluable and we could not thank you enough. Whether you were able to make it to celebrate an award with us on the day of the event or not, let it be known this message is for you!
A massive thank you, goes out to the Falkes District Team for their countless hours of effort that have gone into making today a reality. Your efforts do not go unnoticed! It really was a day packed full of fun for all involved, THANK YOU!
