Cubs enjoy birthday mud bath
It was the biggest birthday party ever for several hundred Luton Cub Scouts with a host of expected activities and some unexpected ones thrown in for good measure. Over the weekend the British summer weather produced regular rain storms that turned the camp site at Bromham into an exciting new water playground and mud bath for the youngsters who relished every drop. One wet and muddy Cub described it as, “Brill”.
There was also a specially made birthday cake they designed, decorated and constructed themselves from hundreds of individual slices. Every one of almost 220 Cubs had a part to play in the 4ft square jigsaw puzzle cake that emerged. Credit goes to Hannah Samm of the District team who dreamed up the idea and made sure all the pieces went into the right place.
Parents afterwards were enthusiastic in their praise for the organisers as they took to Facebook to show their gratitude.
“Amy had a FAB time. Thank you to all the leaders and kids.”
The cake was Delish … a great event.”
“A great big THANK YOU to the organisers.”
“Absolutely brilliant.”
One leader said, “It was like a muddy Glastonbury but without the music and the smiles said it all. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”
