Luton (Icknield) Cub Competition Wins the Day

With a range of activities to engage each and every Cub Scout and building on the all-important teamwork, Cub scouts from Icknield went head to head in a variety of different challenges to become the winner. Activities included tying a range of knots, safety scenarios and creating a healthy diet which are all important skills for life,
Testing communication skills, one task included building a model as a team but only one person able to see the original model. That person would then explain how to build the model without saying what the model was. The cub giving the instructions could not help build the model. There were a number of interesting results. including some notable successes.
Congratulations to Wardown Ninth who came out on top this year, followed by Warden Hill who came 2nd with less than one point between them. Such a gallant effort, just being pipped at the post.
Well done to the rest of the teams as they did amazingly and put in lots of effort.
Being a Cub Scout is about being introduced to lots of new activities, people and things, completing Challenge Awards and tests, doing more, learning more and being more. See what’s on offer and start your journey to the top. Gain knowledge that is age appropriate in something the Cub Scout enjoys, or try something shiny and new. Competitions help create new environments and experiences.
This is only a part of these young peoples lives because they can find themselves learning about many different subjects: athletics and astronomy to photography and pioneering and much more. There’s something for everyone.
The new experiences do not just stop with our young people. Adults can become involved, supporting behind the scenes or maybe becoming a leader. All our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Pack week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills. The result is that adults have the satisfaction of knowing they made a difference to these young people’s lives.
