Scouts believe in supporting local communities.
Leagrave Scout Group has played a big part in supporting three local schools with tentage to aid activities and help with social distancing.
Over the weekend they have loaned out and set up 2 large mess tents and 2 large pop up marquees, with a large event tent still to go out.
The 2 Mess Tents were put up in the playing field of St Martin De Porres Primary School to be used as ‘bubble classrooms’.
The 2 pop up marquees were put up in River Bank Primary School again as ‘bubble classrooms’.
The final event tent will be going to Chantry Primary School in early July.
Scouts of Luton often take part in activities which help to improve the lives of the local communities.
Leagrave Scout Group will often be seen cleaning river banks, cleaning litter, supporting music festivals at St. Luke’s Church, cleaning up the War Memorial at Leagrave and Limbury.
Leagrave also work very hard as group for it’s young members with Luton Scout Activities, national and International camps and visits to Disney Land Paris recently.
Even lockdown does not stop Scouting in Luton and like many other Groups across the Town, Leagrave Scout Group will cover activities via Zoom online for members from 6 to 14 in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, supported by their leaders.
A spokesperson Gary Sturrock, Scout Leader from Leagrave commented “We hope the children enjoy their classroom experience in tents and stay safe”.
“We are proud of our Scouts across Luton, young ladies and gentlemen continuing Scouting with interesting activities and fun until we are allowed to meet Face to Face. But Leagrave Scout Group have shown generosity of spirit and equipment, supporting our local schools at a time of great need. A credit to Scouting” was commented by a Luton Scout Spokesperson.
