Sea Scouts play host to 160 would-be sailors
Over 160 Scouts from across Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire had a fabulous, fun packed weekend when they attended the First Luton Sea Scouts
water activity weekend at Luton Hoo.
Now in its 8th year, the activity days gave the First Luton Group an opportunity to support leaders from across the area to put on sailing, kayaking, canoeing, pulling (rowing) & rafting for 80 Scouts aged 6 to 18 on each day.
The Scouts were split into groups and each had an hour on each activity. Adult volunteer Nichola of Warden Hill said ” We have been coming for over 5 years and have so many exciting, adventures and fun. The Beaver Scouts love getting out on the water, not an every day event for them”.
Activity Leader Phil Jeffrey of the 1st Luton Sea Scouts said, “The Group has these amazing facilities to run water activities, so in true scouting spirit, we share them with other Scouts across the town, the county and beyond. I get a real buzz from such days, seeing smiling faces on Scouts who are not as fortunate, taking to water in a safe but adventurous setting”.
Everybody, no matter how wet, went home with a big smile on their face and a cheer for the instructors who had given up their weekend to make the days work.
