We went to Walesby Forest

Date: 29th Mar 2016 Author: Scout Websites
This year’s Easter Camp for 25 Warden Hill leaders, Scouts and Cubs was at Walesby Forest, Nottinghamshire.

Not far from Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest and set in 250 acres of natural woodland, this was real Scout country.
We stayed in one of the site’s three accommodations, ours being Kemp Lodge, a wooden log cabin set up on the hill in the middle of the estate. This was our home for five days of Scouting.

Activities included:

  • Climbing Wall, Zip Wire, Laser Tag, Low Ropes, Crate Stacking, Cave Maze, Pioneering, Tracking, Back Woods cooking and shelter building, making Penny Stoves and popping corn for movie night, as well as all the normal whittling, axe work and building fires to cook their bannocks on.
  • Plus the largest Campfire they have built to date to keep us nice and toasty whilst singing their little hearts out.

At the end of the camp, lots of smiles and laughter all round and five great days of fun and adventure.

A fantastic site and we all look forward to going again in another three years.
